The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead season 6 returns on 14 February AMC

The brutal villain Negan is not the only major comic book character making his debut on The Walking Dead TV series in the second half of season 6. Rick and group will also get a potential ally in "Jesus", who is expected to appear at some point in the upcoming episodes.

Jesus, also known as Paul Monroe, is a bearded survivor (played by British actor Tom Payne) with ninja-like fighting skills. He comes from another nearby community known as the Hilltop and could be a potential ally for the Alexandrians, reports Entertainment Weekly.

The Walking Dead comic book creator and the show's executive producer Robert Kirkman recently spoke about the new character's role on the show teasing "some cool stuff coming with him."

"Jesus is just such a fun character to write in the comics," Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly. "At this point in the life of the series, my thought is the apocalypse has been going on for so long, the people you encounter in your day-to-day life have to be extremely skilled. And they've been surviving for a reason, whether they were at a place like Alexandria that's very safe, or they're a great leader of their group and somewhat sadistic but in control of their group like Negan, or someone who's an absolute, complete badass like Jesus."

"He's going to be bringing a lot to the show. There's some cool stuff coming with him," the producer added. Well, with Negan and his Saviors set to create havoc for the Alexandrians, we are sure Rick and group can use all the help they can get.

The Walking Dead season 6 returns with episode 9 on Sunday 14 February 2016.
