Season 12 of Discovery Channel's 16-time Emmy-winning series Deadliest Catch premieres tonight (29 March) with young captains eager to show off their fishing talents in the wild Bering Sea. The new generation of captains will be competing against veterans to secure the king crab bounty by catching hundreds of kilograms of crabs in one of the world's ruthless fishing location.

"When I look around at the new guys, there is a lot of opportunity but not a lot of promise," the captain of the F/V Northwestern, Sig Hansen, said. "I don't see as much fear as I would have hoped to see. They don't seem fearful because in their mind there is nothing to fear. At sea, you find out what a guy is made out of. Not everyone makes the cut."

This season will see a new boat — Brenna A — commanded by captain Sean Dwyer, who is the show's youngest captain ever at the age of 23. Dwyer, who has been fishing all his life, is following in his late father's footsteps. However, he has never captained a boat, that too in the Bering Sea. Also, the vessel the young captain is set to command has not fished crab in eight years and he will be in charge of an all-rookie crew.

The show will also see Jake Anderson, who was mentored by Hansen last season. Anderson will try to prove his worth in the Saga with an all-new crew. Previously, the Saga was captained by Elliott Neese. Meanwhile, Josh Harris will be in command of Cornelia Marie, which has got an overhaul but at a steep price. If Harris is not able to find crabs, he could likely lose his boat to investors to whom he sold some stakes of the boat.

This season, the battle to catch crabs is between the experienced and the rookies but the task could become far difficult because of the elusiveness of the crabs.

Deadliest Catch season 12 episode 1 titled Ticking Bomb airs on 29 March at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel. You can watch the episode live by click here.
