Ubisoft Sci-Fi Game 2017
A look at the new game from the "hacked" footage Ubisoft

Ubisoft appears to have revealed a new science fiction game in a seriously cool way. In Watch Dogs 2 – the studio's open world tech thriller – a mission tasks players with hacking their way into the in-game Ubisoft HQ to uncover a video file for a new project.

There has been no confirmation yet as to whether this is indeed a game Ubisoft is working on, or whether it is just a seriously meta Easter egg.

In the game, protagonist Marcus Holloway and hacker group DedSec are trying to accumulate social media followers so they can take on a shady conglomerate. In the mission "Ubistolen", they hope to find and leak the trailer for a new game.

Marcus does this, revealing a trailer for a brightly-coloured science fiction game showing various craft floating through space and an astronaut sitting at a control panel.

The video below shows the entire mission, but you can skip to 4:45 to see the trailer.

The mission is unlocked after Marcus listens in on a conversation between two Ubisoft employees, one of whom references past leaks (in the real world) relating to other Ubisoft titles Assassin's Creed Unity and Syndicate.

These just two of the many meta references in Watch Dogs 2, which launches tomorrow (15 November) on PS4, Xbox One and PC. If you want to know what we thought of the game, you can read our review here.
