Watch Empire season 2 episode 3 live online: Showrunner teases Empire versus Lyon Dynasty

Empire season 2 returns with a lot of drama as Lucious is out of jail and is trying to break Cookie who started her own record label and named it Lyon Dynasty. Episode 3 is titled Fires Of Heaven, where rapper Pitbull will guest star as himself.

The official synopsis reads as follows:

Cookie and Anika secretly work together behind Lucious' back to pull off a surprise performance that catches the eye of Pitbull (guest-starring as himself). Meanwhile, Lucious tracks down Frank Gathers' daughter, Young Ma (guest star Bre-Z Murray), to try to convince her to sign with him at Empire, while Hakeem is hard at work on his girl group, Ménage a Trois. Also, Andre and Rhonda hope their baby-on-the-way will be the key that unlocks Lucious' cold heart and opens the door for Andre to return to the Empire fold in the all-new "Fires of Heaven" episode of Empire.

She told Variety, "Episode two sets up the central conflict of the entire season, or at least the entire first big arc of the season. Cookie and Hakeem are starting Lyon Dynasty."

"It's Empire versus Lyon Dynasty, David against Goliath. These two music companies at very different points in their business lives are going to be going at one another -- and the individuals behind them are going at one another to win."

A new promo shows the Lyon family sitting for dinner, as Cookie asks, "Why aren't you eating? Did you poison us or something?"

"Naah... that would be too easy," replies Lucious. "I know I was only gone for a few months but it gave me a whole lot of time to think about a whole lot of things. Like my wonderful family and how you all band together to destroy me." Andre appears contrite, but Cookie jumps up and asks him not to apologise, saying, "I am not sorry."

Lucious hits back with, "You are not, but you will be..." pauses for a second and continues "Unless you dismantle this little Lyon Dynasty again. Then everything will be forgiven. From leaked album, to hostile takeover to your pillow."

The Lyon patriarch says that although the family has been through a lot of things, at the end of it all they are still family. "I want my family together, and if I can have that I will let go of everything." Cookie, however, rejects his offer.

So it's going to be Lucious's Empire vs Cookie's Lyon Dynasty in Empire season 2 episode 3, airing on Wednesday 7 October at 9pm.
