Harry Potter's prequel Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them debut trailer was released at the MTV Movie Awards. In the movie, Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne plays the character of Newt Scamander, who arrives in New York in 1926 after completing a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures.

At the beginning of the promo trailer, a voice says: "Mr Scamander, just like your suitcase, think there is much more than meets the eye.

"Kicked out off Hogwarts for endangering human life with a beast, yet one of your teachers argued strongly against your expulsion," the voice says. "I wonder what makes Albus Dumbledore so fond of you."

Scamander, the author of one of Harry Potter's schoolbooks, arrives at Ellis Island with a magical suitcase named Jacob, who is a No-Maj (American for Muggle). He is asked by an inspector if there's any livestock in his suitcase. However, before handing over the suitcase for inspection, Scamander changes its setting to 'Muggle-worthy' to hide its magical contents from the view of normal humans. The next couple of scenes show Scamander's adventures in the secret community of witches and wizards in New York.

Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, Scamander might have come and gone without incident were it not for Jacob, the magical suitcase that gets misplaced, and the escape of some of his fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

The film is set 70 years before the events of Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone. The film also stars Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, and Samantha Morton.

The film is set to release in the US on 18 November 2016.
