A new promo of the premiere episode shows Nick telling Captain Renard, "We need to be prepared." To which Renard asks, "Prepared for what?" And Nick explains, "They are coming to Portland, its war!"

Then, Hank, Nick are seen investigating a site, which has bloody walls and people lay dead in a pool of blood. Wu says, "...mayhem all over the city." The violence shows images of the Wesen uprising and a mysterious lady saying, "Not even a Grimm can stop whats coming." The promo ends with Nick finding Trubel.

Meanwhile, Claire Coffee's character Adalind, who recently gave birth to her second child, cleared the air regarding her first child, Diana. She told TVLine that the hunt for Diana "does continue" and added, "It's not as active as it was." The birth of Adalind and Nick's son, Kelly, naturally brings up the fact that she "would really like to find out what's happening to that first child. But, "there is so much other drama unfolding that even the hunt for Diana is on the back burner."

Speaking of the Wesen uprising in season 5, David Guintoli (Nick) dished, "It's almost like a global uprising of Wesen, and they are breaking all the rules. They are thumbing all Wesen traditions, which are: Chill out, keep a low profile and we won't get killed... They're like, 'To hell with trying to behave'."

"It is a global threat, and there's no limit at which they will stop... The Scooby Gang and other groups that you will meet throughout the season are going to be tasked with squashing this uprising," the actor added.
