Walking Dead season 7
Rick Grimes looks shattered after witnessing the murder of one of his team members at Negan's hand AMC

The Walking Dead season 7 is just a week away but before bracing yourself for the big moment, AMC will air a special episode featuring the characters who are kneeling before Negan and waiting to see their loved ones die a gruesome death.

Titled The Walking Dead The Journey So Far, the two-hour special episode will narrate the characters' journey from the first season until the sixth in order to prepare viewers before the season 7 premiere shocker.

While the guessing game for the victim's identity is on, fans are eager to see Glenn and Maggie's journey as anticipation about the death of the couple, who are expecting their first baby in the post-apocalyptic world, is extremely high.

Recently, Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) revealed fans would break their TV sets after watching the first episode of season 7. The season 6 finale left fans in the dark after the death scene revealed nothing about the identity of the victim who was battered to death by Negan's baseball bat Lucille.

Rick's power of judgment has been questioned before by his team but this is the first time they are paying a heavy price for the absurd decision of killing the Saviors. "The overconfidence of Rick Grimes and his group led to them finding themselves in a very tenuous situation with a guy named Negan," executive producer Greg Nicotero explains to AMC

Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd warns fans to prepare for major jolts from the premiere episode. "At first they thought it was going to be like everything else, they'd find a way out. I think the fans should fear the most that Negan is capable of killing anyone. Anyone that you love on the show, in a split second, could be gone," she explains.

While Rick and company are suffering a trauma that seems never ending, his fellow companions Morgan and Carol might have found the sunny side of life in the dark world of zombies. The duo will eventually meet King Ezekiel and his flourishing kingdom.

Lennie James, who plays Morgan, has revealed that his character's meeting with Ezekiel will be something to look forward to. "One of the things I'm most looking forward to in Season 7 is our relationship to King Ezekiel and the Kingdom, and everybody's relationship to the tiger. I can't wait to see the fan reactions..."
