With just a year to go until the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, most of the world's top swimmers and divers are competing at the 2015 Fina World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia.

The two-week event runs from 24 July to 9 August. Diving, synchronised swimming, water polo and open water swimming dominate the first week of the championships, with swimming and high diving set for the second week. IBTimesUK presents the best photographs from the first few days of competition.
