Wayward Pines season 2
Wayward Pines season 2 is currently filming Fox

The mysterious town of Wayward Pines will return to your TV soon, as filming for season 2 has officially begun in Vancouver, Canada. Season 2 of the Fox thriller series will feature a new storyline, but reports suggest some of the old faces from its pilot season will return.

Melissa Leo and Carla Gugino will reprise their roles as Nurse Pam and Kate Hewson for the second season. Fans will remember that Kate and Pam were cryogenically frozen by the First Generation children.

Gugino shared a set picture from her first day of filming for Wayward Pines's second season. In another set-picture she talks about bringing Kate to life.

The show will also star Djimon Hounsou, Jason Patric, Kacey Rohl, and Nimrat Kaur. Recently, Mad Max actor Josh Helman joined the Fox series as Xander. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Helman will portray Xander, a confident and charming guy working to undermine Wayward Pines from within. The character has a complicated relationship with the powerful forces in town — both the adults and the so-called First Generation."

Season 2 picks up from where season 1 left off, with Dr Theo Yedlin (Jason Patric) arriving in the Idaho town and finding himself in the middle of a serious rebellion, as the residents, led by the First Generation, battle over how to preserve the endangered human race. Patric's character is described as a confident, driven surgeon whose leadership skills will prove invaluable to the residents of Wayward Pines.

M Night Shyamalan will serve as the executive producer along with Donald De Line, Ashwin Rajan and Mark Friedman. Blake Crouch, the author of the Wayward Pines books on which the series is based, will also be a part of the series.

The show is set to premiere on 25 May 2016, and the first trailer is expected to be out soon.
