A body found in the grounds near a social club in Manchester, is believed to be missing man Heath Nield.

The 31-year-old went disappeared from his home in Rochdale Road, Bacup, in July.

The body was discovered on Sunday 21 September just before 2.45pm behind Healey Conservative Club in Whitworth, Rochdale.

Police say they are in the process of recovering the body, which appears to have been there for a while. Neild's next of kin has been informed about the latest development.

Further forensic tests are due to be carried out to confirm the identity of the body.

A police spokesman said: "While formal identification has not yet been carried out police believe there is a strong possibility that the body is that of Heath Nield, 31, who went missing from his home in Rochdale Road, Bacup in July."
