After much celebrity fanfare and millions of dollars spent, it's official: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are husband and wife.

The celebrity couple, fondly known has Kimye, exchanged vows on a cliff top at Forte di Belvedere in Florence and from the looks of the first official pics, it was just as extravagant as expected.

The bride looked stunning in a custom-made gown designed by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy Haute Couture, while the rapper groom went for a sleek black and white tuxedo.

The reality TV star couldn't have looked happier on her big day, and many observers thought that her long-sleeved lace gown featuring a mermaid-silhouette was inspired by a certain future queen.

Back in 2011, Kate Middleton wore a bespoke lace Alexander McQueen gown when she married Prince William at Westminster Abbey.

And the similarities do not end there. IBTimes UK takes a closer look at both weddings...
