Who is Simone Johnson? Meet The Rock's daughter who is the Golden Globe Ambassador for 2018
The awards show is scheduled to take place on 7 January next year.
Dwayne Johnson is all set to share starry glory with his daughter Simone as she has been chosen as the Golden Globe Ambassador for 2018. The teen daughter of the Hollywood superstar will be seen on stage to distribute statuettes to the presenters, who will hand them over to well-deserving contestants.
"I've been lucky enough to grow up in a household with strong role models and feel so honoured to represent the HFPA for its 75th anniversary," the 16-year-old daughter of The Rock said in a statement. "As the newly minted Golden Globe Ambassador, I hope to serve as a role model to young people everywhere and empower them to speak out on issues they are passionate about."
She later took to Instagram to express her gratitude for receiving the honour and also thanked her famous father and mother Dany Garcia. "Finding words to describe exactly how I feel right now is a bit hard. Thank you thank you thank you. Thank you to the HFPA, my parents, and everyone else who has helped this all come together. I feel so blessed to be a part of this incredible journey and be known as the first Golden Globe Ambassador," Simone captioned the post.
Star daughters mostly receive the first privilege for the coveted title. Last year, Sylvester Stallone's three daughters, Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet were chosen as the ambassador. A year before, Jamie Foxx's daughter Corinne was selected for a similar honour.
Simone was born on 15 August, 2001 and is The Scorpion King actor's first child with his former wife Dany. Like father, she too is into the entertainment business and is a model. Simone has been associated with IMG Models.
In January this year, the former WWE wrestler introduced his eldest daughter to the world while accepting the 2017 People's Choice Award as his mini-me.
She attended the 2016 Golden Globes as her famous father's date. But this time the event will be special for the actor and it appears The Rock cannot afford to miss the awards show which is scheduled to take place on 7 January next year. The event will be telecast live on NBC.
