Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool target Winston Reid is reportedly close to signing a new contract with current employers West Ham United.

According to Goal, the New Zealand defender, who was on the final few months of his contract was expected to leave the east London club, but has made a dramatic u-turn and is now ready to sign a contract extension with the Hammers.

Reid was heavily linked with a move away from the club during the January transfer window, with Spurs leading the race for his signature along with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.

Even West Ham manager Sam Allardyce had given up hope of securing the midfielder on a new contract after failed negotiations with the club, but this report claims that the New Zealand international has changed his mind after holding fresh talks with the club hierarchy.

Reid, who joined the Hammers in 2010 from Danish club FC Midtjylland has been a key player for Allardyce this season, helping the club challenge for a place in Europe.

Earlier in the month, certain reports suggested that the defender had agreed a deal to move to White Hart Lane in the summer, after Arsenal dropped their interest following the arrival of Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal.

This news will come as a big boost to the manager and the club, as they face a dip in form, which has seen them drop from fourth spot on the table in December to their current position of ninth, 11 points behind Manchester United who are currently on fourth place.

Meanwhile, on-loan Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson, who has been impressive under the former Bolton manager, has backed West Ham to rediscover their form and climb up the table and challenge for a place in Europe.

"Our chances [of Europe] are definitely not gone. There is a long time until the end of the season and we have got some winnable games in our run-in," Jenkinson said, as quoted by West Ham's official site.

"In those last ten we can win plenty of them and if we start getting the rub of the green and start show showing our form again then we are going to start climbing that table again."

"That has to be the aim and the boys are determined to do just that," the on-loan Arsenal defender added.
