Fans that were left devastated when Drake pulled out of last year's Wireless festival in the eleventh hour will be happy to hear that the rapper is coming back to the capital.

The Hold On, We're Going Home hitmaker has been confirmed as the headline act for Wireless 2015.

The 28-year-old hip hop star, who will be the main attraction on Friday night, joins an impressive line-up which includes other big names like Labrinth, Jessie J and Nicki Minaj who will also take to the stage during the three-day event in July.

Festival-goers can also enjoy performances from chart-toppers such as Clean Bandit, Fuse ODG, Wretch 32 and George The Poet.

Taking to social media, the Canadian heartthrob shared the news with his 20.3 million Twitter followers.

"We can't wait to bring Drake back to the main stage, along with some of the best artists that span the world of hip-hop, dance, r'n'b and UK garage," Live Nation's Steve Homer said.

"This is our 10th birthday and we're really going to make it one to remember."

In 2014, Drake cancelled his scheduled appearance after falling ill. He had been scheduled to take to the stage for two gigs in Birmingham and London.

The last-minute cancellation meant that Kanye West headlined two nights in London and Rudimental played an extended set in Birmingham.

Drake previously headlined Wireless back in 2012 when the event was still held at London's Hyde Park.

Wireless, which is celebrating its 10th year, will return to its new home at Finsbury Park from 3-5 July.
