SmackDown Live has lined up some exciting matches for their first-ever brand exclusive pay-per-view (PPV) to be held at Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia on 11 September. WWE fans will get to witness history at the event as the first-ever SmackDown Live women's champion and also a new SmackDown Live tag team champion will be crowned. Moreover, WWE World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Intercontinental Championship will also be on the line.

Here are the confirmed matches for Backlash 2016:

Dean Ambrose vs AJ Styles (WWE World Championship)

Dean Ambrose will be defending his title against AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One earned the right to challenge the reigning champion after the former won his match against Dolph Ziggler at SmackDown Live held at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, on 23 August.

Tag Team Championship Tournament Final

Hype Bros (Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder) and Heath Slater and Rhyno defeated Vaudevillains (Aiden English & Simon Gotch) and The Headbangers, respectively to enter the semi finals of the Tag Team Championship. Hype Bros will face off against Heath Slater and Rhyno, while in another semi final clash The Usos will fight against American Alpha. The winner of the respective matches will fight at Backlash for the Tag Team Championship.

Six-Pack Challenge for the SmackDown Live Women's Championship

Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, Natalya and Carmella will square off in a bid to become the first-ever SmackDown's Women's champion. Bliss and Natalya were impressive as they beat Becky Lynch and Naomi in a tag team match on the latest episode of SmackDown Live held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Lynch, too, has showed that she has the potential to become the Women's champion as she beat Bliss with the Disarm-Her on the previous episode of the show.

The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler (WWE Intercontinental Championship)

The Miz has maintained that his reign as champion is never ending. But Dolph Ziggler will be looking to prove otherwise when he fights The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship at Backlash. Moreover, Ziggler comes into the match with a defeat at the hands of Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam.

Baron Corbin vs Kalisto

The two wrestlers are rumoured to square off against each other at Backlash after their fight at SummerSlam got cancelled due to time constraints.

Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt challenged Randy Orton to a match at WWE Backlash 2016 during the latest episode of SmackDown Live. The Viper has accepted the challenge but the match is yet to be confirmed.
