WWE Monday Night Raw's headlining match between recently crowned heavyweight champion Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles was a real battle. The event, which was aired live from Tampa, Florida on 27 June, also featured a fight between Seth Rollins and John Cena.
The show began with Seth Rollins talking about the triple threat match at Battleground. Rollins also talked about the suspended Roman Reigns even though he was not supposed to. The former heavy weight champion then went on to mock the recently dethroned heavyweight champion's apology on Twitter following his suspension for violating WWE's wellness policy. Reigns does not deserve a second chance or a spot in the main event at Battleground, Rollins said.
"I apologise to my family, friends and fans for my mistake in violating WWE's wellness policy. No excuses. I own it," Reigns had tweeted on 21 June.
Rollins said: "Roman Reigns has never apologised for a thing in his life, so why start now, Roman?"
At this stage, Dean Ambrose makes his entry. The current heavyweight champion said Reigns has made mistakes just as everyone else had. As soon as Ambrose said this, AJ Styles appears and announces that instead of Reigns he should be included in the triple threat match between Ambrose and Rollins.
Then John Cena enters and they all start arguing. Finally, Stephanie McMahon makes her entry and announces matches between Rollins and Cena, and Styles and Ambrose to calm the wrestlers. She announces that if Cena and Styles win, they would be added to the triple threat match at Battleground.
