The X Factor 2016 series is fast approaching, with a brand new panel – well, almost brand new – as past judges Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh rejoin Simon Cowell in helping decide this year's winner along with the viewing public.

And to remind us why it's a good decision to bring back the original audition room format, ITV have treated us to a promo trail comprising of a mash-up of the most memorable audition moments from the likes of JLS to "The Chicken Man".

The clip, which launches tonight (15 July) for the first time on ITV during Coronation Street, also features a host of X Factor judges from the past and present – Cheryl, Tulisa and more – singing along to 2 Unlimited's hit, No Limit.

The talent show's presenter, Dermot O'Leary, also features on the voiceover to give it a real X Factor feel. The Irish-British broadcaster has reportedly landed an £8 million deal for his 2016 comeback following a year-long break that saw Caroline Flack and Olly Murs take the helm.

X Factor fans will no doubt have a giggle at the show's most unique auditions, including Jedward and the yodelling Barclay Beatles, plus a few past winners, such as Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke. We'll also be treated to that now-infamous footage of Rylan Clark-Neal's dramatic emotional scene with Scherzinger and old favourite Chico throwing some shapes.

The trail is the first of a number of videos to be aired ahead of the new series commencing in the autumn in a bid to rev up viewers. They will include another mash-up of other previous judges singing along to Salt N Pepper's classic tune Push It and Simon Cowell rapping to Tinie Tempah's debut single, Pass Out.
