Will Hugh Jackman return as Wolverine in X-Men Apocalypse?20th Century Fox

Ex-lovers, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult may have moved on in their private lives, but the pair are very much together on the set of the new film X-Men: Apocalypse.

The film's director Bryan Singer, posted a picture with the pair on Instagram on 21 May.

The Oscar winner is reprising her role as blue-skinned mutant Mystique opposite Hoult, who plays the blue-furred Beast.

The couple who met in 2011's X-Men: First Class broke up in August, 2014.

Movie Plot

According to new reports, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Channing Tatum's Gambit will most likely make appearances in the film.

Latin Post reports that the casting call also names the actors involved in the project and the names of Jackman and Tatum are in the call.

It states, "It has all lead to this. All of the battles (both outside and within the group), action, relationships and time travel that the uncanny X-Men have endured have led to this, their biggest story ever -- 'X-Men: Apocalypse.' Following the universe changing events of 2014's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' comes this epic mutant adventure and with it a number of casting opportunities for performers of all ages."

The movie will follow the super powered mutants battling their most powerful foe yet, the devious and devastatingly dangerous Apocalypse. This legendary villain uses his incredible abilities to alter his physical form, access other mutant superpowers and telekinesis to recruit a cult-like group called the Four Horsemen to be his servants and do his bidding in an all out war against the X-Men.
