Sony has just started rolling out the Android 5.1 Lollipop over-the-air (OTA) update with build number LMY47D to Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition (C6806), following its recent announcement about the impending Lollipop update on a bunch of Xperia devices.
The new Android 5.1 update for Xperia Z Ultra GPe is definitely big at 212MB, which is about the same size as the recent update rolled out for LG G Pad 8.3 GPe.
Those who missed the OTA update notification or cannot wait for the official Lollipop release in their country can go ahead and install the same manually, using the manual OTA download link provided below.
Meanwhile, several forum users on XDA Developers have revealed the evident bug-fixes and new bugs unearthed after installing the Android 5.1 OTA update on their Xperia Z Ultra GPe.
Here are a few comments from users who have already tested the new Android 5.1 OTA firmware on their Xperia smartphone:
"I just got the 5.1 OTA. It feels a little faster so far. Although, my 5ghz WiFi router doesn't work right anymore. It will only connect at 2.4 GHz."
"I think it is a bug from Google, the same was with 4.4.3, WLAN bugs and more, I think in next update it will be fixed."
"Not that I have seen so far. The camera seems about the same as before. The Wi-Fi bug is kind of annoying though since it limits how fast I can transfer files around."
"Looks like several bugs have been addressed... Seems quicker/less laggy. Nice that they fixed the charging info on the lock screen that always said the wrong thing when NOT charging...that always bugged the hell out of me for some reason. Will check back tonight after a day of use."
