Young Bullish Over Manchester United Title Prospects

Ashley Young remains upbeat over Manchester United's title prospects and warned rivals Manchester City they are poised to seize the initiative should the current leaders slip up.

Manchester United maintained the two point gap at the top of the Premier League with a comprehensive 3-1 victory away to third-placed Tottenham on Saturday.

With 11 games of the campaign left to play many pundits have tipped Manchester United for the title with Sir Alex Ferguson's side deemed to have the easier title run-in.

However, the destination of the title is likely to rest on the outcome of the match between the two sides at the Etihad Stadium on 30 April.

And Young, who scored twice in Manchester United's win on Sunday, believes they are perfectly placed to catch their city rivals in the coming weeks.

"Any time they slip up and we can take advantage, then we will," Young told The Sun.

"We'll keep pegging them back. As Paul Scholes said the other day, we think we'll have to win every gamer. So long as we keep doing that, we'll be OK. We'll just concentrate on ourselves; take each game as it comes.

"We've just had two tough away games at Tottenham and Norwich. Every game between now and the end will be tough."

Meanwhile, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has said his side are in good shape ahead of a hectic title run-in.

"Since January we've had all the big teams - Arsenal, Liverpool, City in the Cup, Liverpool in the Cup... it's been a really busy spell," Ferguson told the official Manchester United Web site.

"But we've come through that and credit to the players. They've dug in and played well in most of the games.

"[Tottenham] was a bit of a disappointment, but the one thing we did do was show the determination to get the result. We defended very well and the goalkeeper made a fantastic save in the second half."
