Former One Direction singer Zayn Malik and his fiancee Perrie Edwards have jetted out of the UK with reports suggesting the couple are on a make-or-break holiday.

On 30 March, the engaged couple were seen boarding a private jet accompanied by a small entourage. Directioners and fans of the Little Mix songstress have flooded Twitter with speculation that Malik, 22, and Edwards, 21, are in Cannes, France, to marry secretly.

The wedding rumours come days after a source claimed the pop stars had brought forward their big day. The insider told Hollywood Life: "Zayn is going to get married sooner rather than later because he's scared and lonely."

Other fans believe that the couple are simply enjoying a private holiday to heal their turbulent relationship after Malik was accused of cheating on the Wings singer during a recent trip to Thailand.

The What Makes You Beautiful singer was pictured holding hands with holidaymaker Lauren Richardson in March while One Direction were on their On The Road Again tour. Malik refuted the cheating claims on Twitter, stating that he is "in love with a girl named Perrie Edwards."

Hours later, Malik flew back to the UK for crisis talks with Edwards, and on 25 March, he released a statement announcing that he had quit the band. Heartbroken fans accused Newcastle-born Edwards of forcing the ex 1D singer to ditch his career and even described her as the new "Yoko Ono", but Malik denied this in his first interview since leaving the band.

However, a source has allegedly told Closer magazine that it was Malik's decision to quit the group to save his relationship with the X Factor winner. "Zayn felt he needed out of the showbiz world to get his head straight," a source reportedly told the magazine.

"He's always struggled with the fame and felt it all became too much. In the end, he felt it was a choice between the band or Perrie - and he chose Perrie."

The couple's holiday has come at the right time as Bradford-born Malik has been pulled into the middle of a Twitter feud between his friend, music producer Naughty Boy, and former bandmate Louis Tomlinson.
