One Direction star Zayn Malik is allegedly planning to leave the boy band to become a rapper.

According to Hollywood Life, the 22-year-old singer is planning to leave the group and pursue a solo career.

"Zayn wants to go into rap and has been working Naughty Boy," an alleged source, close to the band told the website.

"The lads are already making plans after One Direction," the insider added. "Liam and Niall are hoping to work together on new projects."

Meanwhile, on 20 February, Malik fell ill at One Direction's On The Road Again concert in Perth and had to leave the stage mid-show.

A spokesperson for the band told The Sun: "Zayn was taken ill during the show but it's nothing serious. He wasn't feeling that great beforehand but he tried to get through the performance as well as he could. Everyone is hoping he'll be well enough for their next gig."

Last year in November, the Sunday People reported that Malik is planning to quit One Direction and is eager to settle down with his fiancée Perrie Edwards.

"Zayn is fed up with the whole fame thing. He loves singing and his fans but he just wants a quiet life now. He has become increasingly disappointed with the little amount of time he can spend with Perrie," a source said.

"Unfortunately she is in a band too, they have so little time together.

"Zayn appreciates how lucky he is, but life is about family for him and he is seeing too little of his loved ones," the insider continued.
