Overview

India's young guns continued their domination of a full strength Zimbabwe team, thrashing them by eight wickets in the second One Day International on 13 June. The victory gave the Men in Blue a 2-0 lead over the hosts and they will now be eyeing a clean sweep when they face off in the third ODI on 15 June (Wednesday).

Skipper M S Dhoni has not had much to do, with both his bowlers and batsmen playing their roles to perfection. All his bowlers, from Barinder Sran to Yuzvendra Chahal, have impressed, while the batting has been ably led by opener K L Rahul and middle order lynchpin Ambati Rayudu.

Such has been their dominance over the hosts that Dhoni has not needed to even pad up and with the series in the bag he might look to give uncapped batsmen Faiz Fazal and Mandeep Singh a chance. The team management has not yet indicated any changes to the playing XI, which might just mean that they play the same team on Wednesday.

Zimbabwe have struggled in the series so far, something which was expected considering their lack of match practice against a good quality opposition. What was not expected though was for the batting to implode in the both the games. They have not been able to put up challenging totals on board, thus giving their bowlers few runs to play with.

It is disappointing to see players like Vusi Sibanda, Hamilton Masakdza and Elton Chigumbara not contribute consistently. They do play match-winning knocks once in a while but they are just not consistent enough. Zimbabwe do not have enough depth in their squad and have played their strongest team in both their games.
