Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport has been evacuated following a bomb threat, Dutch police said.

Airport spokesman Martijn Beelen said two international departure halls were evacuated after the threat was issued and police are investigating the incident.

Reports suggested the departure halls had been evacuated as a precautionary measure after a man in a toilet claimed to have a bomb.

It was not immediately clear if the threat had caused planes to be diverted, AP reported.

Schiphol is one of Europe's busiest airports.
