Amanda Bynes Accuses NYPD of Sexual Harassment, Denies Marijuana Claims

Amanda Bynes has taken to Twitter to accuse the New York Police Department (NYPD) of sexual harassment.

The 27-year-old American actress and fashion designer was arrested last week for throwing a bong (an apparatus used to smoke marijuana) from the window of her 36th floor flat. The NYPD was called in to her Manhattan residence after the building manager complained Bynes was seen smoking an "illegal substance" in the lobby.

According to celeb news Web site TMZ, Bynes was booked for criminal possession of marijuana, reckless endangerment and a felony charge for tampering with evidence (throwing the pot out the window).

Now, the New York Post reports the actress has hit out at the police. In a rant posted on Twitter, she said:

"Don't believe the reports about me being arrested. It's all lies. I was sexually harassed by one of the cops the night before last which is who then arrested me. He lied and said I threw a bong out the window when I opened the window for fresh air. Hilarious. He slapped my vagina."

"Sexual harassment. Big deal. I then called the cops on him. He handcuffed me, which I resisted, quite unlike any of the reports stated. Then I was sent to a mental hospital. Offensive. I kept asking for my lawyer but they wouldn't let me. The cops were creepy. The cop sexually harassed me, they found no pot on me or bong outside my window. That's why the judge let me go."

According to NYPD spokesperson Christopher Pisano, officers noticed paraphernalia related to smoking marijuana on a coffee table and that was when Bynes threw them out of the window. Bynes said the officers were "lying".

Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne has confirmed the Internal Affairs Bureau would investigate Bynes' claims.

Until that matter is resolved, Bynes will continue to be tried for the original charges. Her next appearance in court is scheduled for July.
