The Scottish National Party is to unveil its blueprint for independence, in the hope of increasing support for a 'Yes' vote in next year's referendum on whether to break the union with England.

The SNP document comprises 670 pages, and, according to leader Alex Salmond, is best on the economic benefits which will come from independence.

"We are setting out a positive plan for job opportunities and economic growth based on Scotland's vast natural resources, key growth sectors and human talent," said Salmond in a statement.

Nicola Sturgeon, the deputy first minister, added that the document as "the most comprehensive and detailed blueprint ever drawn up for a prospective independent country".

According to a recent poll by research group TNS BMRB, 47% of Scots want to remain part of Britain, 29% support independence and 24% of people say they are undecided on which way to vote.

However, a poll conducted by the Sunday Times two days ago revealed that the gap may be narrowing, with 38% in favour of a split and 15% undecided.

Scotland's Economy Going to Be Pounded?

One of the key criticisms for Scottish independence is the detrimental impact that a Yes vote will have on business.

According to Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael, the Scottish National Party's (SNP) plans for a sterling union isn't as concrete as the SNP suggests and a Yes vote would mean Scotland could no longer use the pound.

Carmichael said that Scotland faces mass job losses if the rest of the UK blocks the country's attempts at staying in the currency union in the event of Scots voting for independence in the 2014 referendum.
