A boy has made his first appearance in court after being charged with raping his mother in Blackpool.

The case of the 14-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was adjourned at Preston Crown Court until May 19 for a plea and case management hearing.

His three-day trial is expected to start on October 27.

Judge Anthony Russell QC released him on conditional bail warning him not to contact any of the prosecution witnesses directly or indirectly.
