The Belgium international was allowed to join the Merseyside club on loan in 2013. A year later, the striker joined Everton on a permanent transfer. He has been in fine form for the Toffees this season.
Lukaku has scored 24 goals and registered six assists in 33 league games and is currently the leading goalscorer in the Premier League. His form has seen him attract interest from his former club, Chelsea.
Wright claims the striker will be eager to impress when his former club make a trip to Everton on Sunday. He has also backed Lukaku to replace Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge in the summer.
"I think Romelu Lukaku will be auditioning for a move back to Chelsea on Sunday. I get the impression that Costa will be leaving at the end of the season," Wright told the Sun.
"The yen is screaming too loudly for him. Lukaku is setting himself up nicely to slip into that role. He'll want to impress them and show them why he's the Premier League's top scorer."
The same report claims Lukaku's current employers have slapped a £100m ($129.8m) price tag for their star player.
Antonio Conte saw his side register a 4-2 victory over Southampton in the last fixture. With a victory over the Saints, Chelsea are edging closer towards winning the title. They lead the table with 78 points after 33 games, four points ahead of second place Tottenham Hotspur.
Wright, who made over 200 appearances for Arsenal, believes Chelsea can go on to win the league even if they suffer a defeat against Everton.
"But I think Chelsea can still, even now, afford to lose this game with the ones they've got coming next," he explained.
