An astonishing celestial event was watched by people across the globe as Venus flew by the sun. Whilst those in the Pacific-Asia region saw the entire passage, others were not so lucky, with many in the UK and Europe complaining that cloud cover spoiled the view. When viewed, Venus can be seen as a tiny black dot seeming to travel across the surface of the sun. A transit of Venus will not be witnessed again until 2117.
