Nintendo has confirmed that Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival will be released on 20 November in the UK and wider Europe. Four new Amiibo figures have also been revealed by Nintendo of Japan, but don't appear to be heading to other territories alongside the game.

Amiibo based on Animal Crossing villagers Resetti, Blathers, Celeste and Kicks were announced via Nintendo of Japan's website. In Japan they will be released alongside the game on 21 November, but players in the West will have to make do with the eight already-announced Animal Crossing Amiibo.

Those Amiibo, based on KK Slider, Isabelle, Mabel, Tom Nook, Lottie, Cyrus, Reese and Digby, will be released individually but with certain characters also packaged differently. A three-pack featuring the KK Slider, Cyrus and Reese Amiibo will be released and a special edition of the game will come packaged with Isabelle, Digby and three Amiibo cards.

Amiibo cards were released alongside Nintendo 3DS title Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, and function in much the same way as the figures, using near-field (NFC) technology to offer in-game perks. That game, as well as the cards, will be released in the UK tomorrow (2 October).

Amiibo Festival spin-off is a big departure for the community sim series – taking the form of a Mario Part-esque virtual board game. It was met with a cold reception when it was announced at E3 in June, but is one of Nintendo's biggest Wii U games still to be released this year – alongside Mario Tennis Ultra Smash.
