A teenage girl has been arrested over the murder of a businessman whose body was found in the boot of a burnt out Audi.

The body of Vilson Meshi, 30, was found in the silver Audi A4 on 27 February in Basildon. His death was initially treated as unexplained but police later launched a murder inquiry.

The 18-year-old from Pitsea, Essex, was arrested on Thursday and has been released on police bail until November 22 pending further enquiries.

A 15-year-old youth from London, who was previously arrested on suspicion of murder, has been rebailed until 22 November.

A post-mortem examination gave the provisional cause of death as smoke inhalation.

Meshi reportedly lived in Pincey Mead, Basildon, Essex, but recently moved to Glossop in Manchester.

Detectives previously released CCTV footage of a person wearing a hoodie trying to open car doors before 2.15am on Saturday, 27 February.
