Government sells off high speed rail link for £2.1 billion
The British government has sold off the high speed rail link from London to Folkestone for £2.1 billion to a Canadian consortium.
The consortium will be taking over a 30 year lease for the track and stations which make up the link.
The government originally put the link up for sale in June in order to help reduce the national debt.
