First Amal Clooney gave a behind the scenes look at her wedding day in a magazine spread, and now Benedict Cumberbatch's wife Sophie Hunter has unveiled her wedding dress in the latest issue of Vogue.

Taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, the first picture released since the couple married on the Isle of Wight in a Valentine's Day ceremony, shows the 37-year-old wearing a stunning silver custom-made Valentino gown, which is adorned with lace embroidery and high-necked.

Described as a "medieval" creation by the magazine, the couture dress drapes beautifully across Hunter's baby bump and features long sleeves. The theatre director is expecting her first child with Cumberbatch.

The Imitation Game actor's leading lady teamed up with Valentino's creative directors Maria Grazia Chuiri and Pierpaolo Piccioli to design the beautiful dress, and incredibly, it took just three months to make.

In the accompanying interview with the American publication, pregnant Hunter said of the unique design: "It feels very much of nature, and it's so detailed and extraordinary that I'm still trying to get my head around how beautiful it is."

The Vogue shoot seems to have taken inspiration from Amal Clooney who revealed her wedding dress through behind the scenes photos published in several magazines after marrying Hollywood actor George Clooney in September 2014.

TV star Cumberbatch broke millions of hearts around the world when their engagement was announced in November. Although they have not been together long, the actor's new wife says she knew he was "the one".

"When two people meet and it's the right combination, it does ground you suddenly," Hunter gushed to the magazine.

The couple tied the knot in front of a small group of family and friends in a romantic ceremony on 14 February. Cumberbatch's Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman is said to have acted as best man.

In January, a spokesperson for the actor announced that the couple are expecting their first child. In a statement released to the Mail Online, the rep said: "I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon."
