The highly expected Apple iPhone 6 was launched in a gala event on 9 September along with another high-end iPhone variant, the iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone 6 is often touted as 'Apple's Creative Flagship' device and the 4.7in model costs $199 to buy in the United States, whereas the larger 5.5in prices start from $299 in the country.
However, those of you looking at upgrading your old iPhone models to the iPhone 6 now have lots to cheer about, as America's premier wireless carrier Verizon has announced that it will give away a brand new iPhone 6 (16GB storage variant) smartphone 'free of cost' to customers trading-in their old iPhone units. iPhone customers opting to trade-in their older iPhone handsets also need to mandatorily subscribe to a two-year Verizon contract.
iPhone users choosing to upgrade to iPhone 6 under Verizon's latest initiative get to save $199 (cost of the iPhone 6 in the US), with a two-year Verizon contract.
Verizon's latest announcement comes just hours after Apple unveiled both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones in its 9 September event.
Verizon's latest initiative should also please those of you wanting to upgrade to the iPhone 6, but worried about having to spend those hard-earned few extra hundred dollars, to even upgrade to Apple's latest flagship smartphone.
Which old iPhones are eligible to trade-in under Verizon's 'trade-in' program?
According to Verizon, you are eligible to get a free iPhone 6 16GB model, if you own (and trade-in) the following devices:
iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S.
Upon trading-in the above devices, customers will receive a $200 Verizon Wireless trade-in gift card that should be made of (by customers) to pre-order the brand new 16GB iPhone 6.
Verizon will begin accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 6 very soon. Click here to check out the official website of Verizon and to know when pre-orders are open.
It is imperative for older iPhone customers wanting to trade-in their devices for the iPhone 6 16GB, to remember that Verizon's latest initiative applies only to Apple's iPhone 6, and is not applicable to the iPhone 6 Plus.
Also, only iPhones that are in good working conditions qualify for Verizon's trade-in.
