A man was shot as he opened his front door in Berkshire, police have said.

Two men knocked at the property in Swancote Green, Easthampstead, when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the man on Sunday (10 May) at 6pm. They then made off in the direction of Lyn Crescent.

The victim, in his thirties, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. He is being treated for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Detective chief inspector Bhupinder Rai, of Force CID, said: "While this is a shocking incident for local people, at this stage we do not believe it was a random attack.

"This type of crime is extremely rare. We have extra officers on duty in the area to provide reassurance and also form part of the investigation team. We would urge anyone who has any information about the incident, who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time to call us as a matter of urgency on 101."

The offenders are described as white, aged between 30 and 40, average height, one had brown hair and the other was blond.
