A Kentucky woman has became one of the world's oldest brides after getting married on her 100th birthday.

Dana Jackson proved that you are never too old to find true love when she exchanged vows earlier this month with 87-year-old groom Bill Strauss.

The couple, who are both residents at the Rosewood Health Care Center in Bowling Green, had a formal wedding which was attended by family and friends.

Jackson chose a traditional white gown for the ceremony held at the care home, while her husband donned a smart black suit.

Despite having previously walked down the aisle at the age of 15, Jackson revealed that it was the first time that she had formal nuptials and a wedding gown.

"Well, we was just country people. You didn't do the things you do now. It was simple clothes and maybe a bouquet cut out of the yard. And that's just the way it was," she explained.

Strauss, who thought he would never get married again, also expressed his love for his wife.

"I found one that's just as nice as can be," he said.

"Treats me good. It's rare to find a girl like that."
