At least four people have died and thousands fled their homes after torrential rains caused widespread flooding across central Europe.

Disaster warnings have been issued for parts of Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic after record levels of flooding have led to landslides in some places. Parts of Poland and Switzerland are also being evacuated.

Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is on high alert over fears the Vltava river could burst its banks and flood the historic city centre.

Numerous road and rail services through central Europe have been closed, whilst electricity has also been turned off in some areas as a precaution.
