Firefighters in Fujian Province, China, were forced to throw children from the windows of a school as it was engulfed in flames. According to local media the children were in a kindergarten on the second floor of a building in Ningde city when a fire broke out on the first floor. As the fire rapidly spread and with children trapped in the building, firefighters lowered and in some cases threw children from windows to a safety net held by people on the street below.

At least 92 children and 12 adults were injured in the fire, but all children were rescued from the building and no fatalities were reported. Investigators are attempting to establish the cause of the blaze.
