Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is the latest device to join the Jelly Bean party, thanks to the release of CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) based Android 4.1 update via CyanogenMax ROM. Borrowing the customisation features of CM10, CyanogenMax ROM is reportedly optimised for smooth and lag-free operation, besides adding feature enhancements such as better stability, tweaks for improved multitasking and increased free RAM as well as removal of unwanted apps.
The ROM also flaunts the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean features including smooth and fluid interface, enhanced and highly customised notifications with revamped notifications menu, new Google Search experience with voice recognition, smart keyboard, etc. The ROM is an unofficial release and may harbour a few untested bugs or broken features. Besides, certain Samsung-specific native features may be absent and some apps like the camera may function differently.

How to Install CyanogenMax Based Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update on Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
Step 1: Download the latest version of CyanogenMax ROM based Jelly Bean update from XDA Developers official thread (Download here).
Step 2: Download the Google Apps package.
Step 3: Power off the tablet and boot into ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) through a button sequence. Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons until you see the Samsung Tab 2 logo on the screen. At this moment, release the power button but continue to hold the volume button for a few more seconds. After a few seconds, when CWM recovery mode shows up, you can release the volume button.
Step 4: Now, do a Nandroid Backup of your current ROM, so that you can always restore your original ROM from recovery if something goes wrong with the new ROM. To do a backup, choose Backup and Restore and on the next screen, hit Backup again. Return to main recovery menu once backup is done.
Step 5: Tap wipe data/factory reset and then click Yes on next screen to confirm. Wait until the data wipe process completes. This will only wipe out installed apps and settings and will not delete any personal files on your SD card.
Step 6: Tap install zip from sdcard and then hit choose zip from sdcard. Browse and select the ROM file on the SD card and confirm installation by clicking Yes on the next screen. The ROM will begin installing.
Step 7: Once ROM is successfully installed, click choose zip from sdcard again, then choose the gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip file to install the Google apps package (GApps).
Step 8: After GApps is finished installing, hit go back then tap reboot system now to reboot the tablet into CyanogenMax ROM.
NOTE: To return to your previous ROM if necessary, boot into recovery (the same way you did in step 3), choose backup and restore then restore your previous ROM by selecting it from the list.
CyanogenMax ROM based Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is now installed on your Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.
