George Clooney has been arrested during a protest outside the Sudan Embassy in Washington DC.

The 50-year-old Hollywood actor and his fellow protestors were taken into custody by police following three verbal warnings.

The Oscar-nominated actor, who is also a renowned political activist, had been protesting country's blockage of food and aid outside its US embassy.

According to the Washington Post, Clooney and colleagues were arrested after refusing to move from the entrance of the embassy, which is private property.

Clooney reportedly also had the full support of his journalist father Nick Clooney, who was also present at the protest.
