CCTV Footage shows private tutor thrashing a child at home.

Disturbing CCTV footage from a house in Kolkata, India, has revealed how a three-and-a-half-year-old boy was repeatedly beaten by a female private tutor.

The tutor, identified as Puja Singh by NDTV News, is seen in the video lifting the boy upside down before tossing him on the bed and slapping him repeatedly.

"The woman took the child to the room, and then apparently locked the door, that's when the thrashing began. The pictures are incredible. How could a woman do this to a small child?" said Monideepa Banerji on NDTV News.

The family's lawyer, MO Waqar, said the child's mother was present in the house at the time of the incident and upon hearing loud screams from the room she switched on the CCTV camera and rushed to her child's rescue.

When confronted, the tutor apologised and requested not be reported to police. Later in the evening, however, her husband arrived at the house and threatened the family against filing a case.

The family have, however reported the case to the police, even though the suspect is still at large.

The incident follows the Bangalore child rape that has sparked daily protests in the city with parents demanding justice.
