iOS 8/iOS 8.1 Untethered Jailbreak: How to Jailbreak iOS 8.x with Pangu on Mac OS X via Windows Virtual Machine
iOS 8/iOS 8.1 Jailbreak Status Update: Unknown Team to Release Next Jailbreak

Apple has recently rolled out its first major update for iOS 8, the iOS 8.1, which introduces a handful of jailbreak inspired features such as Quick Reply and widgets amid high-expectations for the release of next untethered jailbreak from the jailbreak community.

There is better news for avid jailbreakers as a reputable source has reportedly informed iDigitalTimes that an unknown team is currently working on the iOS 8/iOS 8.1 jailbreak.

The report adds that some unknown team other than Pangu or evad3rs has been working on the development of forthcoming jailbreak for iOS 8.

Here is an excerpt from the report:

"The final possible player is actually a complete unknown — meaning I have no idea who it is, or if the person or group is familiar to the community. But according to a source that I cannot name but has reputability in the community, there is a party, which is at least partially on the way to an iOS 8 jailbreak. According to my source, "this party has kernel code execution ... and publishing an iOS 8 jb."

It is ascertained that several veteran iOS hackers and jailbreak developers are no longer interested in investing their time or burning exploits in the process, as it had either become too boring or too expensive to afford.

Here are a few reactions from the wary jailbreak developers as they have apparently preferred to stay away from the spotlight:

"You have to have a passion for these things," says @Pod2g. "For me at least, there must be some intrigue, some challenge. iOS is boring for me. I am getting sick of iPhones!"

Another renowned iOS hacker, iH8sn0w, has also conveyed his disinterest in the aftermath of ensuing hassles in jailbreak development:

"I haven't really been interested in public jailbreaks lately because of how much of a hassle it is to make them and publish them."

Key member of the jailbreak developer team, p0sixninja, has also expressed his disappointment over wasted resources and human labour in the arduous task of developing a jailbreak:

"Things aren't looking good for jailbreaks as far as I know ... We've lost many good men, and their additions weren't passed down to continue the cycle so... china or bust basically."

Meanwhile, the Pangu team has expressed concern over wastage of too many exploits, as Apple seems to have patched several exploits in iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 including the Date trick, with the future of jailbreak development looking bleak at the moment.
