A man phoned police to say he had killed a woman at Jessop Court in Islington Google Streetview

A murder investigation has been launched in north London after a young woman died when she was stabbed in the throat. Police were called at around 11:50pm on Sunday 31 January by a man claiming to have killed a woman at an address in Jessop Court, Islington.

Officers attended and found a woman, believed to be in her 20s, suffering knife wounds to her throat. Officers administered first aid until the arrival of London Ambulance Service, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 31-year-old man was detained at the address and has been arrested on suspicion of murder. It is believed the man and woman were known to each other and police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death. Next of kin have not been informed and enquiries to trace them are ongoing.
