Indian police have arrested Suraj Pancholi over the suicide of British-Indian actress Jiah Khan.
Pancholi, the son of a high-profile Bollywood couple, was arrested in New Delhi on 10 June on suspicion of abetting Khan's suicide, according to officer D. Deokar.
Deokar confirmed Khan, 25, committed suicide at her home in Mumbai last week. In a letter, she alleged that Pancholi had an affair, physically abused her and forced her to have an abortion.
The letter, published by Indian media, has been verified by the police.
Pancholi is the son of Zarina Wahab and Aditya Pancholi, who have appeared in over 150 Bollywood films between them. Neither the parents nor their son have spoken about the allegations.
Khan, who was born in New York and brought up in London, began her career in the 2007 Hindi film Nishabd, in which she portrayed a teenager in love with her best friend's father, played by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
She also performed with other top stars, including Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar.
Pancholi, her boyfriend of one year, was studying at an acting institute at the time of her suicide.
