Kate Middleton is pregnant with her second child, Kensington palace has confirmed.

A statement from Clarence House read: "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child.

"The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news."

Clarence House also announced that Kate Middleton is suffering from morning sickness, and will not be able to accompany her husband Prince William on their planned engagement in Oxford today.

When pregnant with Prince George, the Duchess of Cambridge was hospitalised for three days with acute morning sickness at the King Edward VII Hospital.

She gave birth to Prince George at the St Mary's Hospital, London, on 22 July last year.
