Liverpool and AC Milan will face each other in the International Champions Cup at the Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, California on Sunday (31 July). It is a Liverpool's sixth pre-season friendly of the summer as they look to build fitness ahead of their Premier League opener against Arsenal on Sunday, 14 August.
The Reds have been very impressive in the five friendly matches played so far, winning four of the same. Their only loss came against Chelsea in a 1-0 affair in their last game, with Gary Cahill scoring the winner for the Blues. The Merseyside club have scored 10 goals in the process thus far.
Jurgen Klopp will be looking to bounce back from the loss and return to winning ways in front of their historic opponents, against whom they have fond memories of their 2005 Champions League comeback at Istanbul. The Reds came back from being three goals down in the first half to win the final on penalties.
Milan, on the other hand, are in the worst point in their career, having finished last season at the eighth spot in the Serie A and have failed to make the Champions League in their last three seasons. There have been major protests over owner Silvio Berlusconi's running of the club as the club look to resurrect themselves as European heavyweights.
Milan are unbeaten in their last two pre-season games, winning their first game against French club Bordeaux 2-0 and a win on penalties against Bayern Munich, having drawn the game 3-3. The Italians arrive in good form and are likely to provide a strong test to the Reds, who are without goalkeeper Loris Karius with a broken hand.
