A man who raped a girl at knifepoint while filming it on his iPad has been jailed for six years.

Hesam Khosravi , 24, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to two charges of rape at a previous hearing.

He has been sentenced to six years in prison and placed on the sex offenders register for life following the attack at an address in Trafford, Greater Manchester.

The 30-minute footage of the rape was shown in Minshull crown court. Before the video was played, which showed the victim crying and sobbing throughout, Judge Adrian Smith warned the jury that the footage was "very distressing".

He told observers in the public gallery: "This is the time to leave if anyone does not want to watch the video."

The footage was found on Khosravi's iPad after police seized it from his car after he was arrested for an unconnected offence. Khosravi tried to claimed the video showed consensual "role-play".

The victim's two-year-old son was in the flat at the time of the incident.

Jonathan Dickinson, prosecuting, said Khosravi rested his iPad against windowsill to film the assault.

"He begins by asking her questions - what's your name, etc. If she didn't answer his question, he threatened her with a knife which he can be seen to be holding," said Dickinson.

"He ordered her to take her clothes off. She believed that if she didn't take her clothes off he would strangle her.

"She was saying 'leave me alone'. She was distressed throughout - it's clear in the footage."

Dickinson said that after raping the woman, Khosravi "strikes her hard about the head, then stands up and kicks her with considerable force on a number of occasions".

A dangerous man

The court heard how Khosravi, who faces deportation back to Iran, had smoked crystal meth before the attack which made him "more aggressive". His meth addcition had become a £600-a-month habit.

DC Pat Finnigan, of the Serious Sexual Offences Unit, said: "The victim was put through a terrifying and degrading ordeal, the effects of which will stay with her for the rest of her life.

"Over a relatively prolonged period Khosravi physically and sexually attacked his victim, leaving her in fear for her life.

"That he committed these acts with a young child present at the address is all the more shocking.

"So brazen and unrepentant was he about what he was doing he filmed large extracts of the offence and can even be heard laughing at times.

"The footage we recovered from the iPad is some of the most distressing evidence I have ever seen and shows firsthand just how dangerous a man Khosravi is."
