Michael Schumacher has left hospital the star's management and returned home, it has been revealed by the star's management.

In news certain to bring joy to well-wishers and fans around the world, it was confirmed by his manager that Schumacher has left Laussane Hospital in Switzerland.

The Formula One ace will continue rehabilitation from devastating ski crash injuries in the comfort of his own home and surrounded by his family and dedicated staff.

The announcement that Schumacher's stay in hospital has ended comes almost nine months after the 45-year-old was rushed for treatment from a mountainside in the up-market French Alps ski resort of Meribel.

Schumacher's family have been represented in public by his manager Sabine Kehm, who issued the latest update on his condition.

He been being undergoing rehabilitation in the Swiss city of Lausanne for weeks, following his transfer from Grenoble Hospital in France.

It was during the transfer between hospitals that sensitive documents detailing the seven-time Formula One champion's catastrophic head injuries were stolen and then offered to media outlets for publication.
