Millions of Americans will today head to the polls to cast their vote on the next President of the United States, with the race still neck and neck between Democrat incumbent Barack Obama and Republican rival Mitt Romney.

Here people in the State of New Hampshire casting their votes in US election, one of the swing states that both candidates will be hoping to win in their push for President. Barack Obama gave a final plea for support in Iowa on the eve of the election.

"When we decide to make a difference, when Americans come together, determined to bring about change, nobody can stop us. We cannot be stopped. And after all that we've been through together, after all that we've fought through together we cannot give up on change now."

Mitt Romney too gave a frantic final speech in Ohio to rally voters.

"I know the President wants you to think of all sorts of diversionary issues to decide what's key in this election but I think the election comes down to this question, do you want four more years like the last four years or do you want real change? President Obama promised change but he couldn't deliver it. I promise change and i have a record of achieving it."

Most polls show Obama holding a narrow lead in these pivotal states, but with a margin for error, the 2012 election is likely to be the closest in decades.
