Trust Shahrukh Khan to come up with a unique and innovative idea to promote his upcoming film, Happy New Year.

In a first-of-its-kind marketing strategy for a Bollywood film, SRK and his team are planning to release the trailer of HNY on popular mobile networking application WhatsApp first.

Fans and users have been asked to register their mobile number with the film's team and they will get the trailer on their mobile through Whatsapp, reports WassupBollywood.

The official Twitter handle of the film tweeted the following post for fans telling them how they can get the movie's first trailer on their mobile via WhatsApp:

Well, seems to be an interesting way to get more people to watch the trailer, and raise the bar of excitement for the Diwali release, reports Zee News.

The trailer is scheduled to release on the 14th of August, on the eve of Independence Day at a star-studded event called 'Indiawaale'.

"Everybody is invited... please come. The trailer is really good... I hope you all like it. We are trying to create an evening... the film is about dance, music, glamour. I am not nervous. I do my best and leave the rest," said SRK, as per a Hindu report.

According to Khan, Happy New Year has all the ingredients of an ultimate Bollywood entertainer.

"When I go abroad, people tell me Bollywood is about dance and music. We wanted to make an ultimate Bollywood film. I tried to produce a film that has everything in it- romance, drama, action, revenge, sensuality, happiness... it has everything about Bollywood. It is an entertainer," he said.

The movie reunites Deepika Padukone and Shahrukh Khan after the 2013 blockbuster Chennai Express. It also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah and Boman Irani. The film is reportedly a comic caper and has been shot extensively in Dubai.
